Clock showing how long it takes to sell a home

The average time it takes to sell a property in the UK is six weeks: Fact. What are you waiting for?

Rightmove have issued some research today which highlights that the average time it takes to sell a property is six weeks – have a look at the article in the Telegraph here.

Although there are regional variations, now is without doubt a good time to get your property on the market. To secure a sale, interestingly Londoners are on average having to accept offers 1.3% lower than asking price and those in the North West are accepting at 4.8% less than asking. At we pride ourselves on advising our clients on what’s reasonable when it comes to accepting offers – as an online estate agent, we’re not in it for the commission so we’ll give you tips and hints on how to negotiate.

The traditional view is that the Summer is a slow time in the property market as many vendors and buyers disappear off on holidays – at Sell My Home this doesn’t seem to be the case so far. In June we had our record month in terms of vendor registrations and properties going under offer and now we have around £43 million worth of property on the site. It goes to show that there are an increasingly large amount of people out there logically saying to themselves 'Can I sell my house privately?' Well the answer is a most definite yes!

There are certainly hotspots in the UK where the age old saying ‘the property sells itself’ still rings true. The key is to price it correctly and take advice from both the Sell My Home team as well as doing your own research with local estate agents – the portals such as Zoopla and Rightmove will also give you an excellent starting point.

If you have any valuation queries or would like to speak to the team at about a Summer launch give us a ring on 0203 441 2345. By doing so you should be well on the way to selling your house fast!
