Last week the Daily Mail reported that a bathroom in a new Mayfair scheme was worth double the amount of an average UK house. With constant news in the press about sky high property prices and outlandish values in prime areas of the UK, it’s little wonder that as a nation we’re obsessed with what our homes are worth. With the dawn of the online estate agent well and truly under way, thousands of us can easily check what properties are on the internet at any given time. Not being able to have access to this data in the past has previously been a hindrance to selling your home privatlely as the pricing process was made much, much more difficult.
At Sell My Home we’ve pulled together some top tips on how to value your home – the first rule is that valuation is not an art or a science, your home is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. The second rule is to stay realistic. Buyers are now more than ever extremely savvy, they have access to the same information as you and will know what similar houses have sold for.
We’re really keen to help all of our vendors with the valuation process and together with our top tips, we will be taking our service one step further. Over the next few weeks we’re going to be launching a free ‘valuation service’ which will be based on the latest Land Registry data – each vendor will be sent their bespoke valuation via email and the Sell My Home team will be on hand seven days a week to answer any questions.
