Property details

This unique contemporary house has all the advantages of living within half a mile of Canterbury city centre, yet when you look across the neighbouring gardens and parkland you get the impression you are in the countryside.  This fascinating property has undergone a significant extension, complete reconfiguration and has been transformed by the owner into a stunning and spacious five/six bedroom family home.

Stepping through the front door you immediately look straight through the open-plan dining area to the lounge area and the decked terraced beyond, you can appreciate the real 'wow' factor this place encapsulates.  The property embraces the use of open plan living, with different floor levels cleverly separate living areas, prolific use of glass to maximise the light.  With 15m2 wall of bi-folding doors and high ceiling in the lounge the room truly becomes one with the outdoor space, ideal for entertainment.

You can create a sumptuous meal in the trendy kitchen area, designed so all the family can use the space and feel connected yet independent, with its built in double oven, induction hob and integrated appliances including a fridge/freezer, space for washing machine and dishwasher, solid granite work-surfaces.  Not forgetting the built in shoes cupboard, under-stair storage room, a further understair full size cupboard and a hidden huge door cleverly placed to separate downstairs from upstairs if the need be.

There is also an intriguing study/bedroom/independent living area, with a Jack and Jill shower room on the ground floor where the cupboards and part of the room are literally underneath the mezzanine, vaulted ceiling and velux windows.  This charming room also has doors to a private patio and small private garden area.

Upstairs, two of the bedrooms have part-vaulted ceilings and glass Juliet balconies with double doors overlooking the garden and surrounding grounds, including the master with its en-suite shower room.  There are three further bedrooms on this floor together with a modern family bathroom.

Outside you have a choice of sitting areas around the garden including a large two tier decking area straight from the lounge, mature trees, shrubs and a few nooks and crannies where the children can play including a special bush house.....

At the front of the property there is a gravelled driveway providing off-street parking for up to three cars – a real bonus so close to the city centre.

Straight from the horse's mouth:

"I have always thought the location was ideal as Canterbury is such a wonderful city but I still take pleasure in the peaceful feeling the house exudes.  I really find it relaxing watching the superb view, which changes constantly, from all of the rooms at the back of the house. My favourite place in the house is the lounge when the bi-fold doors are open; the garden becomes part of the living space and the scenery is so beautiful and peaceful.     I particularly love the fact that just a short drive away I can be in the countryside taking a walk in the woods or by the sea, with Whitstable, Folkestone and Broadstairs being my favourites, there are still quite a few other coastal areas to choose from.    With Canterbury golf club, Polo Farm sports ground, Kent Cricket ground, a number of Gyms, excellent grammar and private schools, variety of shops, pubs, theatres and restaurants, live music, live events, all on my door step, everyone is happy..."
