The three main portals
We market our properties across the three main portals – Rightmove, Zoopla and PrimeLocation.
With Rightmove receiving 110 million visits per month – a 16 million rise from 2014 - it’s the perfect portal to use to get your property seen by the optimum number of potential buyers. Zoopla brings in around 50 million visits per month, so marketing your home on these two enormous platforms means that your property can be seen by a huge proportion of house hunters. In recent years we’ve seen a change in the way that people use portals. Users are becoming more and more inclined to search for properties using mobile devices – more than half of Rightmove’s hits come from phones or tablets, so there’s no reason why you can’t search for your next home while you’re away on holiday or out and about. The airline, Norwegian, even reported that Rightmove was in the top ten websites browsed by passengers using their free WiFi services while they are inflight – it’s a clear testament to just how prolific this portal is, and shows just how important it is to fully utilise the service if you’re selling your home, as it opens up the opportunity for it to been seen by a huge number of potential buyers.
OnTheMarket – another portal, set up by Agents Mutual (a group of high street estate agents) – is only available for the use of traditional estate agents, and insists that if an agent lists on their site, they can only list on one of the other portals – either Rightmove or Zoopla. At SellMyHome we fundamentally disagree with this model and feel that it is a disservice to these agents’ clients – if you’re choosing not to list your property on either Rightmove or Zoopla – the two biggest property portals – you’re reducing the number of people who could potentially view and buy your property by a huge amount. With OnTheMarket getting around 5 million visits a month – much less than Rightmove, Zoopla and PrimeLocation, this is a considerable drop in potential audience and could severely impact the selling of your home.
The portals are becoming the first port of call for homebuyers looking for a new property. 90% of people’s house searches begin online, so it’s impossible to ignore the importance that comes in listing your property on these portals.
